Victorian Government supports Forester’s expansion of Community Asset Building into Victoria

On 26 August 2010, Minister Lily di Ambrosia, Minister for Community Development, Department of Community development and Planning Victoria, announced funding for a Community Asset Building program in Victoria to be managed by Foresters Community Finance.

The program will focus on a series of workshops followed by the delivery of appraisal and planning support to assist organisations to achieve their Community Asset Building goals. The program was launched at a Victorian Council of Social Services event focused on strengthening the community sector.

According to Belinda Drew, CEO of Foresters, “This funding presents a wonderful opportunity to introduce our proven Community Asset Building programs into Victoria. We believe the Victorian state government is a national leader in recognising the value of this work and the desirability of strengthening the balance sheets of community sector organisations in the state. Foresters looks forward to working closely with the Office of the Community Sector and VCOSS in the delivery of the program.”

Details about upcoming workshops can be found on the Foresters events page at www.foresters.org.au.
